Silvey (JR) Smith Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023. Born on December 2, 1944 to Silvey Sr. and Lillie Mae Smith, in Woodstock, GA, JR had a loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters. JR is survived by his loving wife, Betty; sister Hazel (Paul) Stover; sisters-in-law Paulene Smith and Evelyn Smith; son Steve (Rhonda) Smith; daughter Connie (Bobby) Post; step-daughters Tammy Parker and Nancy Copeland; grandchildren Ryan Post and Miranda Babb; several nieces, nephews, seven step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and plenty of friends.

JR loved to travel in all forms, whether it was touring the country, or just cruising around town. He loved square dancing, fishing, and playing solitaire. Most of all, he loved his family, family gatherings, and the food and love that they shared.

A visitation for JR will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lakeside Funeral Home as well as Friday, October 13, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:45 pm at Lakeside Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Little River United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm.
