Stephen Joseph Revalski Jr., affectionately known as Steve, passed away at home on August 29, 2024, at the age of 66 in Woodstock, GA. Born on January 14, 1958, in Bound Brook, NJ, Steve was a revered figure in his community and beloved by many for his kind, loving, generous, and humorous nature.
Steve grew up in Middlesex, NJ, with his late parents, Stephen Sr. and Dolores, along with his younger brothers, David and Donald. After graduating from Middlesex High School, he joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving from 1976 to 1984 as an avionics technician. He began his active duty at RAF Lakenheath in England, enjoying his downtime by traveling through Europe. His military career was distinguished, earning the honor of fulfilling his duties as ground crew for the infamous SR-71 Blackbird. Steve concluded his service term as a decorated Staff Sergeant with an honorable discharge, last stationed at Beale AFB, CA. Following his military service, he applied his adept avionics knowledge at Lockheed Martin and later at Delta Air Lines. He dedicated 32 years to Delta until his retirement in 2019, where he was fondly referred to as "Snickers" by his colleagues.
Beyond his professional life, Steve was deeply involved in his community, particularly with the Cherokee County Special Olympics, reflecting his generous spirit, passion for sports, and commitment to his daughter Erica and all the athletes. He honed his proficiency through years of coaching his son Ryan and his friends in various sports. Steve and Ryan later bolstered their bond from afar through fantasy football, where Steve became known as the legendary "Muscle Hamster." On nice days, you could find him kayaking with Erica, wife Lee Ann, and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his father-in-law Ken, eating pizza and ice cream, drinking beer (probably Corona), and cheering for the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Sports aside, Steve was a truly genuine and caring person. His support for his family never wavered. He played an integral role in Erica's adoption process and served as Ryan's best man at his wedding. His profound love for his grandchildren, Ainsley and Bryden, was evident as he soaked in every moment with them and seized every opportunity to spoil and entertain them endlessly. Steve also earned the distinction of the household zookeeper, often caring for various pets throughout his life, including his sidekick, Teddy.
As you can see, Steve's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, and an absolutely adored "Papou" to his grandchildren. It all began in 1986 with a fateful blind date, coordinated through penned letters to addresses found in the dating classifieds of the local newspaper. The moment they met, Steve told Lee Ann she was beautiful, and she told herself she would marry him. The rest is history. They met in March, engaged in April, wed in May, and were expecting in June.
Steve's legacy will live on through his devout wife of 38 years Lee Ann; son Ryan (Jenni) and family; daughter Erica; brother David and family; brother Donald; and many other loved ones. Departed before him were his parents, Stephen Sr. and Dolores.
Steve's tireless kindness, dedication, humility, and humor will be deeply missed but remembered by all who were lucky enough to have had the pleasure of knowing him. His impact on his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten. To honor his military service, he will be forever memorialized at Georgia National Cemetery.
The Revalski Family extends their sincerest gratitude for everyone's heartfelt love and support during this exceptionally trying time. We thank Kyle and his staff at Lakeside Funeral Home for their meticulous care of our loved one, as well as Pastor Joe Lumpkin for graciously hosting the service to celebrate Steve's life.
