Obituary

Suzanne Elizabeth Landers 15 March 1937 – 03 November 2024

She was born Suzanne Elizabeth Loy in Massachusetts on 15 March 1937. She was raised half of the year there and in St. Petersburg, Florida the other half of the year. She was adopted by her maternal grandparents as a young child. She graduated from Stoneleigh Prospect School for Girls in Greenfield, Massachusetts in 1955 where she was an accomplished equestrian rider and singer. She declined her acceptance to Juilliard as she had been training with Valerie Deucher, a well-known vocal teacher at the time, with a desire to get married, have a family, and sing for God. She was a paid professional soloist at her mom's local Church as a teenager and later in life had a dream come true of singing at Carnagie Hall with the First Baptist Church worship choir.

She met F. Sid Landers in early 1959 and was later married 26 September 1959 and then lived in St. Pete, Florida full time until moving to Crystal River, Florida in 1971. During her time in St. Pete, she was actively involved in Summer Stock Theater singing in different musicals and was also actively involved in multiple local bowling leagues.

She had her first child, Sally Sue Landers, who died at birth in 1960, her second child, William Earl (Bill) Landers in 1962, and her third child, David Ralph Landers in 1967.

Shortly after moving to Crystal River in 1971, she started working for the Citrus County School Board as a substitute teacher. She later transferred to become a teacher's aide. She was active in the Crystal River United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She also took an active role in the activities of Bill and David. She was widowed on 13 September 1991 and remained a widower until her death. She remained in Crystal River until 2011 when her son Bill passed away.

She moved up to Woodstock, Georgia in the spring of 2011 to be with her last remaining son, David, and became a member of First Baptist Church Woodstock on Mother's Day. She quickly became involved in the Worship Choir at church, and then later multiple senior choirs. She was an active member of her Sunday School class and was actively involved with her family and in singing engagements with the multiple choirs until her health started declining in January of 2024. She went home to be with Jesus on 03 November 2024.
