Thomas Paul Gonzalez of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home on September 9, 2023.

He was born on April 20, 1935 in New York, NY to John and Petra Gonzalez. He attended Roosevelt High School in New York, and New York University before enlisting in the U.S. Marines in 1954. He married his loving wife, Emma Rita Del Toro, on March 23, 1957. Together, they lived in Smithtown, NY, Inverness, FL, and Cumming, GA before settling in Woodstock, GA.

Besides being a sharpshooter in the Marines, he was also a carpenter and a builder in both New York and Florida. He loved boating and camping and had an amazing gift for music. He taught himself piano at a young age and learned to play beautifully. He was a proud Christian and shared his love and faith with his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Gonzalez and Petra Rivera Gonzalez, his siblings John Gonzalez and Olga Schneider, and Granddaughter Breanna Gonzalez.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Gonzalez; his children: Pamela Justine (David) Oswald of Woodstock, GA and Thomas Paul (Ashley) Gonzalez Jr. of Ocala, FL, his Sister Phyllis Padro of Norwalk, CT. Nine Grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob, Nicholas, Krista, Kelsey, Rileigh, and Ayden, Eight Great Grandchildren: Hendrix, Landon, Hank, Evalyn, Raelynn, Evelyn, Ronin, and Marlee, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A service will be held on September 15, 2023 at Lakeside Funeral Home with a visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and service in the Lakeside Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by his burial with Honors at Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests plants in order to create a garden at their home in his honor.
