Thomas Lee Moseley, known as a kind-hearted husband, father, brother, neighbor, artist, and friend, died on August 11, 2026 at the age of 78. From Woodstock Music Festival to Woodstock, Georgia, Thomas brought the spirit of generosity and creativity wherever he went.
Born in Queens in 1948, Thomas was the first of Esther and Lucius Moseley's four children. He attended Locust Valley High School on Long Island, where he made lifelong friends and set a record in the high jump. While serving as a groomsman at a friend's wedding, Thomas had the good fortune of meeting his life partner and companion, Linda Peters. Not long after, Thomas and Linda had a wedding of their own (with Thomas looking dapper in his white suit).
After welcoming their first son into the world, they moved from Buffalo to Atlanta. There, they had a second son, bought a house in Woodstock, spent years on the baseball circuit, and watched a healthy dose of The Wonder Years.
Friends and family knew Thomas as a gentle, caring, and compassionate soul. He loved animals (especially little dogs named Briley and Shorty) and offered refuge to numerous stray cats throughout his life. Thomas was also an avid painter and mixed-media artist. His work frequently appeared in Living the Photo and Artistic Life magazine.
Thomas will be remembered for many things, but here are a few of our favorites: having funny-face contests with his granddaughter, hanging out with the Locust Valley crew at high school reunions, doing headstands in the living room, laughing with his brothers and sisters, offering money to strangers in need, and discovering baby sea turtles late one night on the beach.
Thomas was passionate about giving to charities and improving the lives of others. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send any donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital—one of his favorite charities.
