Obituary

Virginia Marie Pruett was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1932, to Everett and Marguerite Breid. The family moved when she was a young girl to San Diego California. Virginia graduated from Grossmont High School in 1949 and married Jerry Pruett in 1950. Jerry entered the Army , and so they spent the next couple of years at Camp Roberts, California. Their four children were born over the next six years. So the first several years of Virginia's life together with Jerry were spent as a devoted housewife and mother of four kids. She and the family moved to Rancho Bernardo, California in 1965, where Jerry started a Shell service station franchise. Jerry ran the business, and Virginia learned to do the books. She continued to work as the bookkeeper for the 15 years they owned the service station. Virginia was a devoted wife and a loving mother, a devout Catholic, who wanted more than anything for her children to follow in the footsteps of her faith. Once her children were grown, she developed some of her artistic talents, such as floral arranging, sewing, gardening, and ceramics.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her youngest son Jeffrey, and her sister Marilyn.

Virginia is survived by her five siblings: Margie, Sandy, Lorelei, Michael, and Gerry, three of her children: Cheryl (Sid) Anderson, Steven (Sue) Pruett, and Denise (Howard) Sabestinas, as well as 13 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.

In her later years, one of the greatest delights of her life was to interact with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virginia moved to Kalispell in 1996. The last ten years of Virginia's life were a bit difficult, as she struggled with the onset of Alzheimer's disease. She moved into the home of Cheryl and Sid Anderson in 2017 and remained with them until her death. She always kept her sweet disposition, and expressed her gratitude to everyone who reached out to help her.

Virginia will be remembered in a private family ceremony in Marietta, Georgia.
