Walter Wade Inskeep 71, passed away on November 8, 2024, surrounded by family at the home of his daughter Jacquee (Inskeep) Young in Carrollton, Georgia after a year long battle with lung cancer.
Wade was born on January 9, 1953, in Boonville, Missouri and was the son of James Orton Inskeep & Nona Mae (Dix) Inskeep of Nelson, Missouri.
Wade was the sixth of eleven children (8 boys, 3 girls) and was raised on a 120-acre farm close to Nelson, Missouri. Although farm life included such chores as milking cows, mowing pastures, raising chickens and working in the garden, there was always enough time left over for fun. With lots of friends and family coming and going on the farm Wade enjoyed summers that were filled with swimming as well as fishing in the pond and whatever adventures he, his siblings and the neighbor kids could come up with. Winters included sled riding down hills not only on sleds but also an old car hood, playing lots of board games and watching black & white TV. During his teenage years in the 1970's it wasn't unusual for the driveway to be filled with cars sporting mag wheels, loud muffers and long-haired boys.
After high school he moved to Boonville with several of his brothers and soon met Gail Elaine Howard. Wade and Gail were married on July 23, 1977, and soon started their family. Gail worked for State Farm Insurance and after a few years transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma for a short time when she was transferred again to Woodstock, Georgia where they made their final family home. Wade always had a real love and talent for carpentry and once they got settled in Georgia, he worked as a carpenter installing residential kitchen cabinets and countertops. In 2006 he took a position as a truck driver with Bruce Twenter Trucking based out of Pilot Grove, Missouri.
In 2016 tragedy struck Wade's family when his precious wife Gail was diagnosed with cancer and passed away just five weeks later. Wade continued his trucking career but after 15 years and over a million miles on the road, Wade retired from trucking in 2021. He continued residing in Woodstock, Georgia so he could be close to his children and grandchildren.
Wade always had such a zest for life and adventure. He loved to read and was curious about everything. If he wasn't able to go, see, or do something he would enjoy reading about it. He had a photographic memory, so he was considered in his family as the "go to guy". He loved the challenge of helping someone out of a jam whether it was figuring out what was wrong with their vehicle, home repairs or just finding something really interesting to see on their vacation. In his 20's he enjoyed being on a midwest racing team with friends. He didn't have any desire to be the driver but he loved working on the cars before and during the race, whenever necessary.
Wade and Gail always planned a certain destination for their vacation but would gladly make a change if they found something more interesting along the way. He passed that adventurous gene on to his children. He liked taking his kids hiking and camping, as well as sight-seeing and vacationing on the beach. He taught them to look around and enjoy the simple things in life. If they had questions about something or someplace, he would have them look it up and read about it. Wade was so proud of the family he and Gail had built together. He also did his best to keep in touch with his sibling and friends.
Thank you Wade for your kind heart, your funny sense of humor and always being generous with your time.
You will be missed and forever in our hearts.
