Wanda Bowen Cobb, affectionately known as GUNKA, entered this world on May 19, 1947 and she went home celebrating her 73rd birthday with Jesus on May 19, 2020. Wanda was born to the late Mary Inez Phillips and James Thomas Bowen. She grew up in Marietta, GA where she met and married her husband of 53 years. Wanda and Barry have called Acworth home for the last 46 years.
Described as quite spunky or feisty, Wanda was also a "doer" and a "servant" and never liked to be idle. She started a family young and began a career in the medical field. She was a "hands on" and involved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Always constant, always reliable and always supportive. Family was everything and she LOVED fiercely! Wanda retired as the medical office manager for Dr. Jack H. Cohen after 30 years and retired from First Baptist Church Woodstock after 25 years.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, daughter, mother, sister and grandmother, Wanda deeply loved her church where she continued to faithfully serve as a volunteer after retiring. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God. She consistently shared God's love and forgiveness amongst her family and with others.
Wanda is preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her husband, Barry L. Cobb, Sr; daughter Traci M. Byrd and son-in-law Steve Byrd; son Barry L. Cobb, Jr and daughter-in-law Shanna Cobb; grandchildren Kristin, Brandin, Chelsea, Kyle, Madison, Thom, Kyle, Andrew and Nathaniel; great grandchildren Kaylei, Safina and Raelyn , as well as, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
